happy birthday to me

My birthday plans.

All I knew is that I was going to see the sunflowers with my sister and my mom was going as well.

We had fun giggling in the sunflower fields. Getting eaten by mosquitos and mom stepping in mud.

Jenna of course captured some beautiful photos of us while we were there.

Then we made our way back to the city.

We dropped my mom off. And then we headed back to my house.

My phone was on silent so I had missed her first call. Jenna seeing my phone light up alerted me that my phone was ringing, it was my best friend Emma.

She was calling to let me know that her Passion flower had bloomed and I needed to come over. Having had missed the last bloom, and each bloom only lasting one day, I knew I couldn’t miss this opportunity. Jenna said she had wanted to come too. Which made me a little confused but was fine with her tagging along.

We pull up to Emma’s house and made our way to the gate to her backyard.

We walked through and there was this giant inflatable Halloween castle set up.

I can’t remember the order but out popped Emma, Page, Piper, and Lily making their grandest of entrances.

I’m gonna blame it on the pregnancy brain that I thought they too were there to witness the Passion flower bloom. (If you couldn’t tell in my mind the Passion flower bloom is obviously a big deal)

It had taken me a few minutes to fully grasp that they were in fact there for me. For my birthday. 😂😂

Those sweet f*cking angels.

Came all that way to celebrate lil ole me.

And my sister knew all about it.

Emma had called her about her marvelous scheme weeks ahead of time.

At one point I asked Emma if the Passion flower was even blooming and upon inspection she let me down easy, that it was not. Which I will admit a little sad about but quickly made up for by the surprise birthday party that was there instead.

We marveled at the Halloween castle that was given to Emma by a co-worker of hers. It was truly a sight to see.

She had picked up my favorite flavors of wings from wingstop, which she had sneakily asked me about days before but I was completely clueless.

I told them all about the baby and that it was a girl named Shelby Jean. They immediately said her name in the hilbiliest of twangs which is exactly how it is to be said.

Gah, my heart. Grew three sizes that day.

There was even a piñata that we were able to give a show to the neighbors while beating the crap out of this candy filled donkey.

I laughed so hard.

We all went inside. They sang me happy birthday and then I blew out my candles that were on the red velvet cake that my dear friend Nation (Who also happens to be Emma’s husband) made for me.

We all stood around the kitchen laughing and sharing stories, eating cake and celebrating me.

We made our way to the living room where I opened presents that were chosen especially for me.

The time was near. Time for me to put baby Shelby to bed.

I gave the biggest hugs and Jenna took me home.

My belly and heart filled to the max.

I cannot explain to you what these humans mean to me.

Thank you to everyone who made me feel so unbelievably loved for my birthday.

What an amazing gift it is to know each of you.
